Faculty of Agriculture UWGM Samarinda Holds International Seminar on “Agricultural Strategies in Global Climate Change”

Samarinda, November 22, 2023 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda proudly organized an International Seminar entitled “Agricultural Strategies in Global Climate Change.” The seminar was conducted in a hybrid format at the UWGM Samarinda Hall and via Zoom Meeting, enabling broad participation from academics, researchers, practitioners, and students both nationally and internationally. This international seminar reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Agriculture UWGM Samarinda to advancing knowledge in sustainable agriculture and addressing global climate change challenges. It also serves as a strategic platform to strengthen international academic networks and foster cross-border collaboration in research and innovation. The seminar was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda, Husaini Usman, Prof. Dr., M.T., M.Pd., who emphasized the importance of synergy among academia, government, and practitioners in addressing climate change impacts on agriculture and food security. The keynote speech was delivered by Siti Farisyah Yana, Ir., M.Si, Head of the Food Crops and Horticulture Office of East Kalimantan, highlighting regional policy strategies in maintaining agricultural resilience amid climate challenges. The seminar featured distinguished international speakers: Dr. Iin Arsensi, M.P. (Universitas Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda, Indonesia) Hajah Rose, Ph.D (Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Brunei Darussalam) Chairat Techavuthiporn, Ph.D (King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand) Margo Sulistio, Ph.D (National Ilan University, Taiwan) The seminar provided insights into climate adaptation and mitigation strategies in agriculture, technological innovations, and the importance of global collaboration in ensuring food security. The event received enthusiastic participation, reflecting strong interest in addressing global climate challenges in agriculture.
